SINGAPORE: Several cast members and crew of award-winning film "Ilo Ilo" returned to Singapore to a rousing reception on Tuesday night.
The movie had notched landmark victories at the Golden Horse Awards in Taipei last weekend.
Actress Yeo Yann Yann, who won the Best Supporting Actress award, associate producer Huang Wen Hong and child actor Koh Jia Ler were mobbed by some 200 fans when they arrived at Changi Airport at about 10.20pm.
Anthony Chen, who won Best New Director, did not show up as he is in Japan for the Tokyo Film Festival, while actor Chen Tian Wen has extended his stay in Taiwan.
Ms Yeo was greeted by members of her family, including her 14-month-old daughter Vera.
She said she's still coming to terms with her award - one of four accolades that Ilo Ilo picked up.
And she believes that the movie deserves to be ranked among Singapore's iconic films, alongside signature pieces by established directors like Jack Neo.
"It deserves to be one of the classics... we are of different types of films. The film focus on a different way of presenting people's lives. We hope that it encourages new directors... you dream big, you might get it!" she added.
