SINGAPORE - A 26-year-old woman was taken to hospital after being slashed on her face and back by a man in Geylang on Saturday (Sept 9) night.

The Straits Times understands that the pair knew each other, and the man attacked her with a penknife.

A contributor to Facebook page Crime Library Singapore wrote in a post on Sunday that he saw six police cars, two ambulances and forensic vehicles at Geylang Lorong 18.

He said a woman was "brutally attacked with her head heavily bandaged".

The police told The Straits Times on Monday that they received a request for help at 340 Geylang Road at 11.23pm on Saturday.

"A 42-year-old man was arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon," said the police spokesman.

The 26-year-old female victim was taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said she had lacerations on her cheek and shoulder blade.
