Photographer David Slater joined PETA Director Elisa Allen on GMB to discuss the long, drawn-out court battle over who owned the copyright of a picture of Naruto, the Macaque monkey.
While David claimed, as the photographer, he owned the photograph, Elisa claimed as Naruto took the picture, it belonged to the money.
The long, drawn-out court case, which took two years, was only recently settled after it was agreed David owned copyright, with 20% of the profits going to the protection of the Macaque monkey.
Straight-talking Piers, however, disagreed with Elisa, voicing how ridiculous he believed the battle was.
“David brought global attention to these monkeys and you’re trying to destroy him. What’s the matter with you?”
Elisa tried to fight her corner, sharply responding: “We see animals as things, and this results in them being treated horribly.
